Abitare il Tempo 2009: Total Living

A Verona date (from 17th to 22nd September 2009), the 24th edition of “Abitare il Tempo”, part of the concept “Total Living”: tradition and innovation blend together and map out new living space.
The 18 product sectors at the fair – enriched by the addition of an outdoor area measuring 15,000 sq ms for the display of outdoor furnishing – click together like a mosaic for living, and as usual, there is a diary of cultural events not to be missed.

On at the Design Museum at the Milan Triennale until 28th of June, the personal piece dedicated to Giulio Iacchetti “Disobedient Objects” , curator Francesca Picchi, opens the series of shows presenting fresh, young Italian design in the CreativeSet space. “Disobedient” object-manifestos– so defined by Iacchetti himself– that imbibe these projects with an “absolute” value compared to his what he has produced previously, which goes from lamps to taps, sofas and cutlery…

Even though this edition of the Salone del Mobile Scheduled from 30th September to 3rd October 2009, Veronafiere, will host the 44th edition of Marmomacc, the international exhibition of marble, stone, design and technology. Events scheduled to take place at the exhibition include the 11th “International Stone in Architecture Awards” and the “Marmomacc meets Design – Hybrid and Flexible” exhibition, which this year will be dedicated to the quest for new ways of expressing stone.

The contest awards ceremony, which took place in Antonio Lupi’s entirely revamped Milan showroom during the recent Salone del Mobile show, was a contest to find fresh, young designers for bathtub, washbasin and bathroom furnishing item projects that would showcase the versatility of innovative materials. The winning models are being produced commercially and the designers involved have been awarded royalty contracts for their designs.

“From earth to the Earth” is the title of a new installation organised by Ceramiche Refin and Michele De Lucchi, for the Milan Fuorisalone 2009 events calendar. Special guest at the show will be Michele De Lucchi, the designer responsible for the temporary architectural structure in which ceramic materials play an essential role.
In particular the project will reflect many important issues for contemporary society such as our responsibility to the environment with the interaction of light refracted by textured ceramic sheets.

My Exhibition, in collaboration with the Temporary Museum for new Design and Zona Tortona hosted an event dedicated to the culture of home wellness as part of Fuorisalone 2009, at Superstudio 13 in Milan. Dedicated to concept of “Living wellbeing" the exhibition (600 sq.m, 43 exhibitors and 7 media partners including Bagno Oggi e Domani) featured 5 projects in fully functional, operational spaces by 5 different architects and designers, all making a strong emotional impact devised around the theme of eco sustainability and innovative technology at the service of comfort.

The legend of the Lochness monster was the inspiration for the suggestive ambiance devised by Tagina for Fuorisalone 2009 in Milan: “Lochness - Joe Legend by Tagina”. Created with modules from the new Joe series, the two metre tall, twenty metre long structure reproduced the coils of the fantastic dragon in a pattern of colour and material made into reality by the strong tactile presence of the material, in double-fired white clay, adorned by a special “blur” finish, created by applying the ceramic technique to the “third fire”.
